GentBet is a simple app for tracking friendly wagers and predictions with friends. Make one-on-one bets, build groups of friends to run multi-choice prediction polls, and keep score with stats. No money changes hands through the app — it's just a clean way to keep everyone honest.
GentBet is for users 18 years of age or older. Date of birth is verified at signup. The app is for tracking friendly, informal wagers between friends — no real money changes hands.
Tap "Create Bet" from the menu, or use the "+" button on the Current Bets screen. Pick an opponent from your contacts, describe the bet, set the stakes, and tap Create Bet.
Money bets track a dollar amount. Gentleman's bets are for bragging rights or custom stakes like dinner, chores, etc. No money is processed through the app.
Go to Contacts and tap the + button. Enter their email and a nickname. On iOS, you can also import from your phone contacts.
Just add them as a contact — an invitation is sent automatically. You can also re-send invites from the Contacts screen.
Open an active bet and tap "I Won" or "I Lost." Both parties must submit claims. If they match, the bet resolves automatically.
The bet is marked "Disputed." Discuss with your opponent, then either party can reset their claim to try again.
Tap the menu and go to Past Bets. You can filter by wins or losses. All resolved bets are saved here so you can review your history.
After a bet resolves, the loser marks "I Paid" and the winner confirms with "Payment Received." This updates your balance. No actual payments are handled through this app — it's just for personal notekeeping and tracking.
A Group is a custom set of friends from your contacts that you assemble to run predictions together. Open Groups, tap + New Group, give it a name, and add members. Anyone in the group can create polls; the group owner controls membership.
Open a group from the Groups tab. As the owner you'll see an Edit link and an "Add member" field on the Members tab — you can add or remove members at any time. Non-owners can Leave Group from the group detail. New members only see polls created after they joined.
A Poll is a multiple-choice prediction (2–6 options) run inside a group — like "Who wins the Super Bowl?" The poll's creator is also the arbiter: they decide the winning option after voting closes.
From the Polls tab tap + New Poll, pick the group, write the question, add 2–6 options, and set an End Date. You can also create one from inside a group's detail page — same form.
Voting is open from the moment a poll is created until its End Date. Once you vote, your choice is locked — you can't change it. You won't see others' picks until you've cast your own (and once everyone has voted or the poll has ended, all results are revealed). This keeps predictions honest.
If you created the poll, open it after the End Date passes — you'll see a "Resolve Poll" panel. Pick the winning option and confirm. You can also Void a poll if the underlying event was cancelled. Voided polls don't count toward stats.
Go to Stats → Poll Stats. Pick a group from the dropdown to see the group leaderboard (everyone's accuracy and participation), or choose "All Groups" for your overall stats. Accuracy only counts polls you actually voted on; Participation shows how often you voted out of polls you were eligible for.
Tags let you categorize bets (Football, Basketball, Politics, etc.). Add them when creating a bet or from Bet Details. Use the Tags filter to find specific bets.
Enable notifications in Account settings. You'll get push alerts when someone comments on your bet or poll, accepts a bet, makes a claim, creates a new poll in your group, or adds you to a group. If you create a poll and let it expire without resolving, you'll also get a daily reminder.
Yes. On mobile, swipe left on any message to reveal a Trash button. On desktop, hover the message and click the × in the corner. Trashed messages are hidden from your view only — other participants still see them. You can also filter the list by Bet Messages or Poll Comments using the checkboxes at the top.
Go to Account and tap "Delete Account" at the bottom. This will permanently delete your account and all associated data (bets, contacts, profile). This cannot be undone.
